A preliminary note: this book, while readable, is replete with obvious errors of grammar and English, to the point where the errors are a constant annoyance making reading the book a chore, and detracting from the author's credibility. Most of the errors are grammatical, but some are typos and incorrect words, suggesting that the author didn't even run a spellcheck.Regarding the substance of the book, I can say unreservedly that the book was a complete waste of $2.99. First, the mistakes and bad grammar only increase as the book progresses. Second, the book reads like a very unprofessional version of Cliffnotes or Sparknotes. It sounds as though the author has no command of the subject matter, and is merely attempting to summarize what someone else has written. The author's numerous references to Daniel Goleman's book of the same title leave me to conclude that this is a distinct possibility. Third, the author never actually delivers any substance regarding how to develop and use emotional intelligence. He merely attempts to define it, and the characteristics that evidence its presence in a person, and advises people to be like that. Fourth, the author makes statistical claims that sound highly dubious, and he provides no supporting cites or evidence, further suggesting that this book is an attempted summary of another work. Boiled down, the author's message is: live by the golden rule, and try to improve yourself in any quality that seems to be holding you back. How one is to recognize his or her deficiencies is not addressed. In short, I recommend not wasting your money or time on this useless book, but finding a book on the subject by an acknowledged expert.

Great book, changed my mindset
On life, a nice jump start to the eq conversation I'm now looking forward to learning more about this topic. Highly recommend this book!
Good read
I chose to only give this book 2 stars mainly because of all the grammar and spelling issues all throughout the book. It was very distracting and made me question the authors knowledge of the subject. The tips involved didn't give very good examples so at the end of reading the book you kind of feel like you still didn't know much more about the subject.
